Chino: Chinese Transformed

October 5, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
The word for Chinese in Spanish is Chino. That may or may not be apropos for the name of a Chinese restaurant located in the Mission district of San Francisco. My BFF and I went there for lunch a few months ago. I got a good energetic vibe as I walked into Chino. It was...

El Techo de Lolinda: San Francisco Rooftop

July 20, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
A group of five friends met last week at a rooftop restaurant/bar I discovered recently in the Mission district of San Francisco. To get there, you have to pass a “bouncer” on the street, walk through the hallway of a building, and take an elevator to the “PH” aka Penthouse. El Techo de Lolinda is...

Foreign Cinema: Two Thumbs Up

June 15, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
It wasn’t a holiday. It wasn’t a special occasion. It was just a Friday and my friend and I were going to have dinner at Foreign Cinema in the Mission District of San Francisco. We didn’t have reservations so we had planned to eat at the bar. I arrived first and ordered a Manhattan with...

June 8, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
Today is National Best Friend’s Day so I am writing about last night’s outing to celebrate my best friend’s birthday. She had been wanting to try out a place called Hard Water at Pier 3 in San Francisco. We had dinner reservations for three at 7:15pm. My sister, my BFF, and I showed up about...

Primavera: Spring Time Chilaquiles

April 13, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
I love me some chilaquiles. Chilaquiles are a traditional Mexican dish typically served for breakfast. The base of chilaquiles are corn tortillas that are cut into pieces and fried and coated with a sauce (green or red). Assorted ingredients are then topped over these chip-like pieces. Did I say I love me some chilaquiles? When...

Shanghai Brunch at Dumpling Kitchen

April 6, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
I woke up famished this morning. It was probably because I hiked twenty miles yesterday covering most of the Ohlone Wilderness. It was the most aggressive hike I have ever taken. I definitely burned more calories than I ate yesterday. This morning I contacted my friend to have breakfast with me. We agreed on Shanghai...

Another Dim Sum Blog

February 9, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
This is another blog post about dim sum. It’s a food that I am very familiar with because I grew up eating it and I continue to eat it to this day. I have had the pleasure of enjoying dim sum in Hong Kong, in Vancouver BC, in New York City, in Los Angeles, and...

Lunch Time at Hard Knox Cafe

January 26, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
Last Sunday before watching the San Francisco 49ers lose the NFC Championship game, I had lunch with my sister and two friends in the City. It was our first time trying Hard Knox Cafe. The restaurant has two locations, one in the Richmond district and one in the Dogpatch. We went to the smaller location...

Quince: Ending 2013 on a High Note

December 29, 2013 by 510foodie No Comments
I thought I would end my last blog post of the year with a fine dining experience. Earlier this month, I attended a holiday luncheon at Quince in San Francisco. I was super excited because it is fancy and my first time dining there. I took the San Francisco Bay Ferry on this beautiful day....

SPQR: Food to Appreciate

August 18, 2013 by 510foodie No Comments
One of my girlfriends invited me to celebrate her birthday at SPQR in San Francisco. I had not heard much about SPQR, but I was excited because my friend enjoys good food. Sometimes the less you know about something the better because you aren’t setting yourself up for disappointment when your expectations are too high....
