El Techo de Lolinda: San Francisco Rooftop

July 20, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
A group of five friends met last week at a rooftop restaurant/bar I discovered recently in the Mission district of San Francisco. To get there, you have to pass a “bouncer” on the street, walk through the hallway of a building, and take an elevator to the “PH” aka Penthouse. El Techo de Lolinda is...

It’s night three in Paris and this evening’s dinner is the best thus far for me. After our visit to the Louvre, we headed to St. Germain for an early dinner at le comptoir. My friends and I ordered a bottle of Bordeaux to share. We got three different entrees (appetizers). One of my friends...

June 29, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
I arrived in London yesterday at 7am. I was told that Saturdays were the best day to visit Borough Market, so after checking into our hotel, we took the Tube to get there. Borough Market is full of artisanal foods. Vendors were selling their homemade products such as cheese, breads, and cured meats. A bread...

Foreign Cinema: Two Thumbs Up

June 15, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
It wasn’t a holiday. It wasn’t a special occasion. It was just a Friday and my friend and I were going to have dinner at Foreign Cinema in the Mission District of San Francisco. We didn’t have reservations so we had planned to eat at the bar. I arrived first and ordered a Manhattan with...

Ode to the Ice Cream Sandwich

June 1, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
I don’t know what it is about the ice cream sandwich that I love so dearly. I grew up on two types of them. The It’s-It is a frozen treat of ice cream that is sandwiched between two oatmeal cookies and dipped in chocolate. I didn’t realize until I was an adult that they are...

For A Limited Time: Three Red Fruit

May 25, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
It’s the end of May and if you go to any Bay Area Farmer’s Market, you will find strawberries, raspberries, and cherries at its best. It’s a very short time period that all three of these red fruit are in season. It may even be shorter this year because of the California drought. At a...

May 18, 2014 by 510foodie No Comments
I just got back from a conference at the Seascape Resort in Aptos, California which is near Santa Cruz. The space is beautiful and right off the beach where we could see dolphins swimming. My colleagues and I were able to have a few meals off-site and I wanted to write about two of those...
