I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Tara’s Ice Cream

January 20, 2013 by 510foodie No Comments
I try not to buy too many Groupons and Living Social Deals, but sometimes it’s too good a deal to pass up. I bought a Living Social Deal for Tara’s Organic Ice Cream last year and noticed the expiration date was coming up quick. Although you can still redeem expired coupons for the value paid,...

East Bay Bagels

December 2, 2012 by 510foodie No Comments
It has been difficult to find a good bagel in the Bay Area until recently. In the last few months, two great bagel shops have popped up in Oakland. Old Brooklyn Bagels & Deli on College Avenue in Rockridge serves bagels that taste much like a New York bagel. They boil and then bake their...

Wood Tavern: Rockridge’s Best

November 25, 2012 by 510foodie No Comments
More than five years ago, restauranteurs Rebekkah and Rich Wood opened up their first Oakland restaurant, Wood Tavern. They were one of the first restaurant owners to successfully transplant a San Francisco restaurant across the Bay to Oakland. Many restauranteurs have followed suit in the past few years making Oakland a destination place to eat....

November 4, 2012 by 510foodie No Comments
Dia de los Muertos aka Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday that is celebrated November 1 and 2. It is a time to celebrate those loved ones who have passed away. I was invited to celebrate Dia de los Muertos on Friday evening at Cosecha located in the Housewives Market in Old Oakland....

Outside Lands: Standout Food

August 19, 2012 by 510foodie No Comments
Last week was Outside Lands at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Outside Lands is a three day Music and Art Festival. For short I will refer to it as OSL. The event was in its fifth year and it was my first time. For the most part, I tend to avoid crowds of 60,000....

Aunt Mary’s Serves Up Breakfast

August 12, 2012 by 510foodie No Comments
During the episode of Master Chef when the contestants had to cook up eggs four different ways – poached, soft boiled, sunny side fried, and an omelet, I wanted to be a part of that. I’m pretty good at cooking up breakfast food, so I don’t tend to go out to eat breakfast very often....

Donut Savant: Fancy Holes

July 29, 2012 by 510foodie No Comments
A couple of months ago, my BFF brought me over a surprise. Fancy donut holes. What is more surprising is that it’s a new donut shop that opened up only three and a half blocks from my work. Donut Savant is in Uptown in Oakland. We shared a few holes. These bite sized treats tasted...

Haven: More Like Heaven

February 26, 2012 by 510foodie No Comments
My expectations were quite low going into the restaurant Haven, the latest restaurant in Oakland’s Jack London Square. It’s been open for two months and it was a food club pick. My colleague had dined there a few weeks prior and indicated she was served one and a half scallops and went home to have...

Commis: A Celebratory Experience

February 19, 2012 by 510foodie No Comments
I’m celebrating my two year anniversary. It’s a two year anniversary of a relationship I have with food and writing. I’ve been writing a weekly food blog for two years. To celebrate, I was going all out. I dined with my BFF at the only Michelin star rated restaurant in the entire East Bay and...

About Me

Hello, my name is Lisa Lau.  Welcome to my new website 510foodie.com.  I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I am passionate about food and am here to share my food adventures with you.

I’ve been blogging about food for almost ten years.  I am a contributing writer for localwise.com where my blog post Top Five Bowls of Noodle Soup in Oakland went viral.  In 2018, I was a guest writer for Berkeleyside where I wrote the featured article  A Filipino Food Movement is Sweeping the East Bay.

My friends and family enjoy my cooking so new to the site is “Recipe of the month.”

I hope you enjoy the site!
